Noise

I never truly understood the meaning of noise sensitivity. That is, until I started my new job on a college campus where they just happened to be building a new museum right next to my office. And I won't even go into how ridiculously stupid it is going to look when it's done.. that's another post...I am officially on the ledge, about to jump. The sad thing is, I am only on the 3rd floor so chances are, I will live and probably not endure enough injuries that would keep me from returning to work tomorrow, or I guess after I get back from the ER. The beeping has literally become a part of my life, not to mention the jack-knife that is constantly drilling a hole into my head. Then there is the dust. And now, they are cleaning out the office right next to mine which I am convinced was filled with asbestos. Yeah, you heard me.

I don't even really like this job. I took it because it was good benefits and they seem to appreciate the role of the working parent which means your job takes a back seat to your kids but the reality is, the job doesn't get done on it's own. So while I am able to come and go as I please, I don't have an elf here getting my job done for me while I am gone.

And now it's summer and I must say, this is probably the worst one yet. I pretty much write my letter of resignation every day and I dream of days on the beach, or at a pool with my kids frolicking around me. Oh, and I have money. Lots of it. Maybe even a pool of my own with a pool boy to go with it. This really could happen... or NOT.

It is weeks like these that I really feel like I am not good at anything. I am not good at parenting because I am too busy at work. I am not good at my job because I also work part-time as a chaffeur to my children who have apparently all joined travel teams and have to be driven to places like Pewamo and Leslie and Ovid-Elsie. I seemed to remember walking down the street as a kid with my uniform on and telling my mom I would be home for dinner. I can still hear her say good luck!

So here I am. Supposed to be getting ready for the week from hell at work and all I can do is sit here and cry about the things I cannot change. What I would like to know is how do all of the rest of you do it? And I don't mean those of you who have money.. no offense, but money does make everything a little easier. I am officially on the ledge. Push or pull? You tell me. And does anyone have any beats headphones I can borrow? I hear those are amazing..........
